After an accident during a holiday trip leaves Sam Bloom (Naomi Watts) partially paralyzed, she’s struggling to find meaning in her new life, in spite of her husband (Andrew Lincoln) and three sons. Based on a true story, the film follows a familiar formula where the leading character learns lessons about overcoming challenges, not least mental ones, pretty much the way every person who ends up in a wheelchair must do to move on with their lives. However, the film gets a kick out of a magpie chick who became an invaluable part of the Blooms. Sweet and engaging; Watts is great.
