In December 1942, two siblings (Anna Sofie Skarholt, Bo Lindquist-Ellingsen) try to help a couple of Jewish kids (Samson Steine, Bianca Ghilardi-Hellsten), who were hiding in their basement, across the border to neutral Sweden. The director’s first feature film builds tension in the wintry landscape near the border where it’s impossible to know if people you encounter are friends or traitors; very dramatic near the end when German soldiers are getting closer to the four children. Also effective in the way the film explains to its young audience why it should be important for the siblings to help the Jews.
