THERE ARE SOME JOURNEYS YOU CAN’T TAKE ALONE.Â
When she’s left at the altar, Rachel Hamilton (Kristen Bell) is contacted by her father (Kelsey Grammer) for the first time in decades; after getting drunk, they accidentally end up on her Caribbean honeymoon cruise… That sounds like a perfectly stupid set-up for a comedy full of slapstick, but it’s not quite what we’re getting. The director’s feature debut is formulaic and offers no surprises, but it is also sweet and its plot unravels without contrivances that go too far. Appealing lead performances, including from Seth Rogen, the director’s husband.
2018-U.S. VOD. 98 min. Color. Directed by Lauren Miller Rogen. Cast: Kristen Bell (Rachel Hamilton), Kelsey Grammer (Harry Hamilton), Seth Rogen (Jeff), Paul W. Downs, Zach Appelman, Leonard Ouzts.
