FOR 1 IN 5 WOMEN, THEIR DREAM SCHOOL WILL BECOME A NIGHTMARE.Â
The director followed up two other documentaries about sexual abuse, Twist of Faith (2005) and The Invisible War (2012), with a closer look at American universities and colleges, showing how hard it is for them to stop rape on campus. We meet several young women (and a few men) who talk about what they’ve suffered; now they’re organizing to force the schools to take the problem more seriously. Several of those universities and colleges named in the film criticized its presentation of the facts; so did NFL talent Jameis Winston who’s named as a rapist here. The film shows great compassion for rape survivors and illustrates (directly and indirectly) how hard it is to find justice, for the victims, and in a way that’s legally satisfying.
