JOIN THE MERRIEST MENAGERIE IN THE WORLD’S BEST-LOVED LEGEND.
One of Disneyās laziest projects, a re-telling of the old Robin Hood legend with a wily fox as the hero, was made on a small budget and borrows a lot from earlier Disney flicks,Ā The Jungle BookĀ (1967) in particular. Little John is virtually Baloo reborn, complete with a repeat performance by Phil Harris. A definite lack of imagination and a very abrupt ending mar the film, but this is nevertheless a much-loved adventure. It has a good sense of humor, amusing and appealing characters and attractive music, including the romantic (and Oscar-nominated) theme āLoveā.
1973-U.S. Animated. 83 min. Color. Produced and directed byĀ Wolfgang Reitherman. Songs: “Oo-de-lally” (Roger Miller), “Love” (Floyd Huddleston, George Bruns). Voices of Brian Bedford (Robin Hood), Phil Harris (Little John), Monica Evans (Maid Marian), Peter Ustinov (Prince John/King Richard), Terry-Thomas, Andy Devine.
Trivia:Ā Tommy Steele was allegedly considered for the voice of Robin.
