THE MAN ON THE MOON.
Some time in the future, a successful night club on the moon is blown up and the owner (Eddie Murphy) tries to find whoever is responsible. Murphy’s venture into space moves reasonably fast, some of the design looks pretty good and the music is better than most things. But this notorious flop is nevertheless much too silly, has no good jokes, the mix of comedy and action is clumsy and Randy Quaid’s performance as a robot neither believable nor funny.
2002-U.S. 95 min. Color. Directed byĀ Ron Underwood. Music: John Powell. Cast: Eddie Murphy (Pluto Nash), Randy Quaid (Bruno), Rosario Dawson (Dina Lake), Joe Pantoliano, Jay Mohr, Luis GuzmĆ”n… Peter Boyle, Pam Grier, John Cleese, Burt Young, Illeana Douglas. Cameo: Alec Baldwin.
Trivia: One of the biggest box-office bombs ever; the film’s estimated budget was $100 million and not even the DVD rental gross came close to compensating for the huge loss.
