After an attack on the NSA, Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) hires a new XXX agent, an imprisoned former Navy SEAL (Ice Cube); they soon stumble onto a huge military conspiracy. Vin Diesel’s agent has been killed off for this sequel and Ice Cube is here to make sure that the mediocre standard of this franchise is left intact. Too much CGI makes the movie look almost animated at times, but there’s something admirable in how the filmmakers can drop every ambition, get as silly as they do here… and still make it work on some level. Boring it ain’t. Ā
