ANGIE WANTS TO STAY SINGLE, HAVE A BABY, AND FALL IN LOVE. BUT SHE’S WILLING TO NEGOTIATE.
After a two-year hiatus from her job as a movie star, Geena Davis made a comeback as Angie, an Italian-American woman whoās involved with Vinnie (James Gandolfini) but starts dating an Irishman (Stephen Rea). Then she finds out sheās pregnant… This is a tailor-made part for Davis, and her leading men also deliver their performances with aplomb. The obligatory, loud Italian family threatens to make the movie too clichĆ©d, but as Angieās life takes an unexpected turn with the birth of her sick child, the smooth transition from laughs to tears helps matters greatly.
