PAST MEETS FUTURE.
After crash-landing in 2022, fighter pilot Adam Reed (Ryan Reynolds) meets his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell), joining forces with him to destroy time travel before it ruins the future. Much is familiar about this sci-fi adventure, from Reynolds’s wise-cracking hero, a character he has played many times before, to the Spielberg touches, evident in the mix of nostalgia, visual effects and mush. But it’s all very appealing, delivering laughs and action; Reynolds and Scobell are fun together as the two Adams, their rapport further elevated by the arrival of Mark Ruffalo as their dad, and Catherine Keener as the villain.
