El Topo (Alejandro Jodorowsky) is talked into trying to defeat four gun masters in order to earn the love of a woman (Mara Lorenzio). The movie that gave the director a global cult reputation is a famous example of an āacid westernā, where the genreās traditional elements are fused with 1960s counterculture. Inspiring many subsequent filmmakers, El Topo offers dreamlike sequences, religious symbolism, deformed bodies and buckets of blood. Some viewers will experience the ultimate trip, others will find the film much ado about nothing.
