BE CAREFUL WHO YOU PRAY TO.
Journalist Gerry Fenn (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) goes to a small Massachusetts town on an assignment, but becomes a witness to mysterious events surrounding a deaf-mute girl (Cricket Brown). Behind this story lies a worthy message about the danger of believing in false profets; in the novel, author James Herbert explored his Catholic background. But in first-time director Evan Spiliotopoulos’s hands, it becomes a by-the-numbers horror movie, with ineptly staged scares and shoddy effects.
