An orphaned red fox is adopted by an older woman; he makes friends with a puppy next door, but there will come a time when the dog is expected to hunt… A film about the kind of childish friendship you have before adulthood complicates everything, made at a time when a new generation of animators were coming in at Disney. Engaging film for kids that became a box office hit. Not on par with the studio’s classics, but endearing, with good voice work and a couple of fun sidekicks, two birds whose hunt for an elusive worm ends with a surprise.
