IT’S A SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR A LADY WITH THE HICCUPS, AND HE IS IT!
Jill Baker (Merle Oberon), whoās married to an insurance executive (Melvyn Douglas), goes to a psychoanalyst to see if he can cure her hiccups; she soon starts questioning her marriage. Ernst Lubitsch made this attractive but unremarkable comedy in between two much greater films, a remake of a silent picture he made in 1925, Kiss Me Again. Itās a pretty contrived story about a self-centered pianist (Burgess Meredith) who comes between a man and his bored wife. Terrific leads and itās a good example of the Lubitsch touch, with sharp dialogue and classy sets where men and women play games.
