NOBODY RUNS FOREVER.
Korean War veteran Earl Stone (Clint Eastwood) needs money desperately and agrees to become a mule for a Mexican cartel; at the same time, DEA agents are tracking the cartel’s movements. A real-life story about a mule in his 90s becomes a perfect vehicle for Eastwood, frail but still sharp and amusing. The character, honest, unafraid, looking to repair mistakes from the past, looks like classic Eastwood. An engaging film, with plenty of tension without turning unnecessarily cruel. Several supporting efforts are worthwhile, including Andy Garcia as a charismatic mob boss.
