HE’S THE BEST THERE IS! (ACTUALLY, HE’S THE ONLY ONE THERE IS).
Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey), a private detective who specializes in retrieving captive animals, is hired to find the Miami Dolphins mascot, who’s been kidnapped. The movie that made Carrey a star does indeed create a memorable character out of the pet detective who looks like he stepped right out of a comic book. Each and every scene has Carrey working like an animal, which is what we need when the story is this thin. A few scattered OK scenes, but the film’s rampant transphobia never looked good.Â
