The Boss

Wall Street tycoon Michelle Darnell (Melissa McCarthy) loses everything; after a stint in prison, she moves in with her former assistant (Kristen Bell) and tries to build a new empire… As in most movies by McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, the star’s talents are well employed – this looks like a typical 1980s comedy where Chevy Chase is fun to watch even if the material is disappointing. Completely uninteresting premise where McCarthy’s character learns the value of having a family, but worth a giggle or two – and her look is perfect for the part.

2016-U.S. 99 min. Color. Directed by Ben Falcone. Screenplay: Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Steve Mallory. Cast: Melissa McCarthy (Michelle Darnell), Kristen Bell (Claire Rawlings), Peter Dinklage (Ronald/Renault), Ella Anderson, Tyler Labine, Kathy Bates.

Trivia: Co-produced by McCarthy, Falcone, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
