BASED ON A TRUE STORY. WE’RE NOT KIDDING.Â
For a bunch of guys who’ve been friends since childhood, every year the month of May is devoted to an adventurous game of tag. Unbelievably, this comedy was based on a 2013 Wall Street article about real-life friends who’ve played the game for almost three decades. As expected, the film wants to celebrate male friendship (most of the women are wasted, especially Annabelle Wallis), but a few laughs now and then wouldn’t have hurt. Jeremy Renner looks like he’s having fun as a devious, athletic master of tag.Â
2018-U.S. 100 min. Color. Directed by Jeff Tomsic. Cast: Ed Helms (Hogan ”Hoagie” Malloy), Jeremy Renner (Jerry Pierce), Jon Hamm (Bob Callahan), Jake Johnson, Hannibal Buress, Annabelle Wallis… Isla Fisher, Brian Dennehy.
