Jon (Mads Mikkelsen), who emigrated to America after fighting in a Danish war in 1864, is finally reunited with his wife and sonā¦ but then evil men cause a tragedy. A Western written and directed by Danes whose ambition seems to have been creating a stylish genre exercise, but perhaps it would have been a more interesting film if they had tried to add something different? Still, itās an engaging, handsome thriller that takes advantage of well-worn traditional themes with a convincing Mikkelsen as the ex-soldier who finds reason to use his skills again. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is effective as a villain in the classic sense.Ā
