NICE PAIR. 

Los Angeles, 1977; enforcer Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) cooperates with a private eye (Ryan Gosling) to find out what happened to a missing girl who doesn’t want to be found. This action-filled mystery-comedy is virtually a companion piece with Shane Black’s earlier Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), one difference being that this one revels in 1970s period details. Overlong and uneven but still fun because of Black’s playful mix of dark comedy and violent action, and the two stars who are terrific as the clumsy duo who somehow manage to survive shootouts. Young Angourie Rice is a welcome addition as Gosling’s bright daughter.
