SAVING THE NEIGHBORHOOD ONE SOLE AT A TIME.
A Lower East Side cobbler (Adam Sandler) discovers that when he uses his fatherās old stitching machine and tries on the customerās shoes, he literally becomes this person. After making several critically hailed drama-comedies, director Tom McCarthy hit a brick wall with this fantasy, maybe because he cast Sandler in the lead. The reception was a bit unfair; the cast is far from a problem. As the film deals with issues relating to parenthood, thereās a lot of emotion, but the story is ultimately neither funny nor moving enough.
