THERE IS NO CALM BEFORE THE STORM.

A major storm is headed for the small town of Silverton, Oklahoma, and a local high-school vice principal (Richard Armitage) and his teen sons end up in the middle of it, along with veteran storm chasers. Twister (1996) had cool tornado effects, engaging characters and knew how to build tension. This one tries to make lightning strike twice, even throwing in multiple tornados, including one made of fire (!). There’s a pleasure in watching all this popcorn movie mayhem, especially in the overblown finale… but characters are much too flat.
