The Lady

theladyA different project for Luc Besson as a filmmaker, one that could show a new side of himā€¦ but also one that might turn out to be a bit much to chew. That’s how many critics saw it, finding his and writer Rebecca Frayn’s portrait of brave Burmese freedom fighter Aung San Suu Kyi’s battle against the junta holding her country hostage a bit drab and emotionally stunted. Admittedly, the film will hardly be a life-changer for you, but Michelle Yeoh delivers one of the best performances of her career, the filmmakers are devoted to credibilityā€¦ and in the end, the story is gripping enough to hold your attention.
