IT’S FIND THE GUN, OR DEATH…
Mobster Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker) is desperately trying to track down a gun that was used in a cop killing; he needs to find it before the police do. The Cooler (2003) director delivers a gangster movie that has gained a minor cult following. Undeniably entertaining, it’s a bizarre grab bag of comedy, bloody violence, mob stereotypes, nasty pimps, creepy serial killers and a few other weird things. Walker tries hard, but the film’s intensity grows wearisome after a while; frantic editing and excessive tampering with the look of the film don’t help.
