A Texas businessman (Jeff Fahey) hires a Mexican worker, Machete, (Danny Trejo) to kill a corrupt State Senator (Robert De Niro), but he doesn’t know that Machete is a former federal agent with a violent pastā¦ Robert Rodriguez developed one of the faux previews from Grindhouse (2007) into a whole feature ā and, considering the thin story, succeeded surprisingly well. This is entertaining, stylish B movie fun with loads of blood-spurting battles, and its heart beats firmly for Latino immigrants fighting racist Southerners. The cast is fully committed to this ride, including Steven Seagal as the chief villain.
