The Tourist

On a train to Venice, an American math teacher (Johnny Depp) meets a beautiful woman (Angelina Jolie) and is drawn into the Scotland Yard’s hunt for her mysterious lover. This remake of the French film Anthony Zimmer (2005) was the director’s first American project and he ends up looking like a cog in a Hollywood machine he can’t control. Hitchcockian in style, but there’s no chemistry whatsoever between the stars, the dialogue is awkward and the story is told without passion.
