The Parade

Gay activists in Belgrade battle the authorities and neo-Nazis for the right to stage a Pride parade; surprisingly, help comes in the shape of veterans from the Yugoslav Warsā€¦ A daring, broad comedy from filmmakers who saw the 2010 Pride parade in Belgrade turn into a battlefield and decided that this would be the right approach to make their fellow countrymen start viewing gays as human beings. Makes fun of clichĆ©s in the depiction of the activists and the veterans (with amusing references to Ben-Hur (1959)); mixed results, but this unwieldy film eventually builds to a moving climax.
