PREPARE FOR THE RETURN OF AWESOMENESS.
When the evil lord of a peacock clan attempts to conquer China, Po and the Furious Five use all their powers to stop himā¦ but the panda is also brutally reminded of his childhood. The first major animated release to be directed by a woman is a 3D adventure that retains the original’s sense of humor, striking beauty and flowing animation. But it also makes room for a great villain, voiced with gusto by Gary Oldman, as well as a darker theme about troubled relationships between parents and children, which both Po and the villain share. That’s what gives the movie a deeper edge, without denying us all the action and laughs.

Last word: “We saw a chance to increase the scale of this movie emotionally and to push the technology so that we could tell a bigger story. What was nice about going into the sequel for me was, when I was just Head of Story I didnāt have as much access to the tail end of the production. Now as director, I got to meet everyone at each step of the process. I was able to get into the nitty-gritty of what each department does.Ā The crew has been amazing on this film. Itās been a huge passion-project for all of us.” (Yuh, Fantasy Magazine)
