THE ONLY WAY OUT IS DOWN.
When a cyclone hits an underwater cave expedition in Papua New Guinea, its members are trapped and desperately try to find a way out of the complex cave system. Based on a real crisis that co-producer Andrew Wight found himself in, this film takes a horrifying premise and turns it into a lightweight, clichéd adventure that occasionally echoes The Abyss (1989). That movie’s director, James Cameron, has made sure (as co-producer) that the 3D effects in this film are topnotch. Cardboard characters aside, the action and locations look realistic and the escape from the cave turns pretty engaging.
