Jonah Hex

Civil War bounty hunter Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is hired by the government to track down a vicious Confederate general (John Malkovich) long thought dead… This adaptation of the 1970s comic book was made by a director with experience from animation and it is at times a visually attractive Western ā€“ with occult ingredients. Not exactly boring, but very darkly lit and it soon deteriorates into the expected. Megan Fox has the same kind of thankless role as in Transformers (she’s here to be gawked at) and Malkovich is a dull villain; Brolin’s more solid in the lead.

2010-U.S. 81 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Jimmy Hayward. Comic Book: John Albano, Tony DeZuniga. Cast: Josh Brolin (Jonah Hex), John Malkovich (Quentin Turnbull), Megan Fox (Lilah), Michael Fassbender, Will Arnett, Aidan Quinn… Michael Shannon.

Trivia: Heavy metal band Mastodon wrote much of the music. Thomas Jane and Matthew McConaughey were allegedly considered for the lead.
