22 Bullets

Retired hit man Charly Mattei (Jean Reno) is attacked by eight masked men who put 22 bullets in his body; he miraculously survives and decides to exact revenge. Actor Richard Berry’s first film as director in five years is a clichĆ©-riddled thriller that was nevertheless based on a true story. Reno lends weight to the film as the old pro who has to confront his childhood friend; attractive locations and a few tense sequences add to the fun. Still, Berry is a little too fond of his flashy visual style and the characters are little more than caricatures.Ā
