Popular TV weatherman Russ Richards (John Travolta) runs into financial difficulties and concocts a plan together with the ruthless Crystal (Lisa Kudrow) to rig the Pennsylvania state lottery.Ā Nora Ephron tackles something that could be described as a gangster comedy, one that borrows elements (and the 1980s setting) from a real-life story. The supporting cast has interesting people like Tim Roth (as a likable criminal), Michael Moore (as an asthmatic masturbator) and Bill Pullman (as a lazy cop), but the two leads are disappointing. More violent than funny.
