Once upon a time there was a filmmaker who made some of the most commercially successful movies in history. Millions of fans hailed his genius. Later he decided to start tinkering with the films, insertingĀ CGIĀ effects and making unnecessary changes. When he subsequently made three new episodes of his franchise, they were heavily anticipated by the fansā¦ who were horribly disappointed. This documentary presents the case against George Lucas, a man both loved and hated by every die-hardĀ Star WarsĀ fan out there. We meet some of them here, as well as a few celebrities like Neil Gaiman, who give us insight into the cult-like following. Well structured and entertaining, the film makes a few points that Lucas should heed.

Last word:Ā āIn many ways,Ā ‘The People vs. George Lucas’Ā is a tribute to the YouTube generation, which Lucasā advances in technology helped create.Ā On a more profound level, itās about how new media interacts with old media, as well as ownership and copyright in the digital age; and it was our intent from Day 1 to give the fans a prevailing voice in the doc.ā (Philippe, Wired)
