THEY’RE ABOUT TO GET MORE THAN THEY PLEA-BARGAINED FOR.
Wheeler and Danny (Seann William Scott, Paul Rudd) are sentenced to community service and join a network of big brothers; their chosen protégés pose very different challenges. A comedy in the vein of Judd Apatow’s work, with a couple of thirtysomethings waiting to grow as human beings. Apatow regulars Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Christopher Mintz-Plasse make appearances and there’s plenty of the expected R-rated fun. The two stars deliver familiar performances; hardly character actors, they are nevertheless entertaining. Very thin story but sweet and funny, with a terrific performance by Jane Lynch as a reformed cokehead.
