WHAT HATH GOD WROUGHT?
When a river turns blood-red in a rural, bible-belt town and a girl is accused of having satanic powers, a former priest turned atheist (Hilary Swank) goes there to investigate. What on earth did co-producer Robert Zemeckis see in this film? Starting out as another predictable The Exorcist-wannabe the film subsequently turns even worse, introducing poorly staged moments of “horror” (such as a barbecue that goes wrong) and a preposterously effects-laden climax that few will find terrifying.Ā
