Silent Hill

Rose DaSilva (Radha Mitchell) brings her little girl to a place called Silent Hill that frequently appears in the daughter’s nightmares; once there the girl disappears and Rose confronts horrors in order to find her. Apparently, director Christophe Gans spent several years trying to get this adaptation of the popular game made. Sadly, he offers us no reason to watch the final results. Slow, unpleasant (but not scary), the film has bloody effects that look rather cheap and characters one couldn’t care less about.

2006-U.S.-France. 127 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Christophe Gans. Screenplay: Roger Avary. Cast: Radha Mitchell (Rose DaSilva), Sean Bean (Christopher DaSilva), Laurie Holden (Cybil Bennett), Alice Krige, Deborah Kara Unger, Kim Coates.

Trivia: Followed by Silent Hill: Revelation (2012).
