COMING FOR YOU.
After serving 13 years in prison for kidnapping and killing a boy, Geum-ja (Lee Yeong-ae) is released and prepares to exact revenge on the real culprit (Choi Min-Shik)… and get back in touch with her daughter. The concluding chapter of Park Chan-wook’s revenge trilogy doesn’t engage you the way Oldboy (2003) did, but the skillful direction and the dark tone keeps you interested. As a fantasy, it is bound to challenge any parent who has ever said “gimme five minutes alone with that child molester”… but the film rarely goes beneath the surface. Lee gives a strong performance as the friendly-looking but vengeful lady.
