A GENERATION’S FINAL JOURNEY BEGINS.
The crew of the Enterprise are tricked into going to the planet of Romulus where they encounter a human clone who desperately needs Captain Picard’s (Patrick Stewart) body… The tenth film in this series became a box-office failure; even though the special effects are as excellent as always, there is little true imagination left in the concept. It’s not a bad story (there’s musings on the meaning of identity) and fans will enjoy personal touches like Riker’s wedding. The lack of tension (apart from the final battle) is a major problem.
2002-U.S. 117 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Stuart Baird. Cast: Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (William Riker), Brent Spiner (Data), LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis… Tom Hardy, Ron Perlman. Cameo: Whoopi Goldberg.
Trivia: Kate Mulgrew, who played Admiral Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager (1995-2001), makes an appearance in that role. Jude Law was allegedly considered for a part. Followed by Star Trek (2009).
