WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT TALENT?
Jerome, (Max Minghella), a budding artist, goes to college in New York and is amazed to find that the work of his less talented classmates are more lauded than his. Director Terry Zwigoff takes another look at outsiders in the same style as his previous Ghost World (2001). Lots of familiar faces; John Malkovich, Ethan Suplee and Jim Broadbent are all excellent and their parts (suffering artists and wannabes) definitely feel grounded in reality. The satire is entertaining, and Minghella is good in the lead, but the serial killer part is one reason why the movie doesn’t quite hold together.
