Matt (Luke Wilson) dates a woman (Uma Thurman) who turns out to be G-girl, a superhero; when he breaks up with her, all hell breaks loose. The return of Ivan Reitman is a disappointment. On paper, the Ghostbusters director is the perfect guy for this comedy; it has a promising concept but it is ruined by the lack of good jokes and performances. Neither Wilson nor Thurman is particularly interesting. The scene where she tosses a great white at him doesn’t deliver effects-wise… but it’s a cool idea. Also, Eddie Izzard compensates a bit as a laidback supervillain.
