CREDIT-GRABBING, BACK-STABBING, WIFE-NABBING. JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE OFFICE.
Tom Reilly (Zach Braff) goes to work for his father-in-law at an ad agency and starts feuding with a wheelchair-bound childhood friend (Jason Bateman) of his wife’s. One of those movies with a cast of TV personalities and a script loaded with sitcom dialogue; when so little work has been done on the story it’s hard to deliver not just a 22-minute episode but a whole movie. Predictable stuff, but the cast tries its best; Braff does what he does on Scrubs, Bateman is hilarious as a complete asshole, and it’s nice to see Charles Grodin after a 13-year absence.
2007-U.S. 89 min. Color. Directed by Jesse Peretz. Cast: Zach Braff (Tom Reilly), Amanda Peet (Sofia Kowalski), Mia Farrow (Amelia Kowalski), Charles Grodin, Jason Bateman, Donal Logue… Amy Adams, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd.
Trivia: Briefly released in 2006 as Fast Track.
