Businessman Wayne Hayes (Robert Redford) is abducted by Arnold Mack (Willem Dafoe); as they trek through wilderness and Wayne’s wife (Helen Mirren) waits at home, all of them begin to ponder their lives. Producer Pieter Jan Bruggeās directing debut is a thriller for adults, meaning it is leisurely paced, features older stars and has its characters in conversations about what their lives look like after all these years. I find myself somewhat engaged, even though the ending, with events leading up to the resolution, is unsatisfactory. Fine performances, including Dafoe, as a desperate but sad criminal.
