The Break Up

Brooke and Gary (Jennifer Aniston, Vince Vaughn) hook up, fall in love and move in together; eventually, they fall out of love and the fight for the ownership of the apartment ensues. There was a bit of media hype surrounding this film because of the starsā€™ real-life relationship, but this is much ado about nothing. The film portrays a couple that spends most of the time being mean to each other and there isnā€™t much fun in that. The stars are OK though and so is the supporting cast. The ending is open, which is a good thing, and quite unusual in films like this.

2006-U.S. 106 min. Color. Directed byĀ Peyton Reed. Cast: Vince Vaughn (Gary Grobowski), Jennifer Aniston (Brooke Meyers), Joey Lauren Adams (Addie), Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman, Judy Davis… Vincent Dā€™Onofrio, Ann-Margret.

Trivia: Co-produced by Vaughn, whose real-life dad plays Anistonā€™s father. Ā
