EVERY MURDER HAS A MARK.
Detective Jessica Shepard (Ashley Judd) is assigned to a case where several former lovers of hers are murdered; it begins to look as if sheās the culprit. Philip Kaufman is normally not a good director of thrillers, but in this case it is the screenplay that should be faulted in the first place. It starts out alright, with a very ambiguous and interesting lead character, but grows increasingly unbelievable, ending with a ridiculous climax. Not even the highly capable Judd is able to rescue the film.
