A battered woman (Jennifer Lopez) takes refuge with her daughter at a ranch in Wyoming owned by the girl’s grumpy grandfather (Robert Redford). Think they’ll all start to like each other, even if it’s gonna take a while? If it talks like a Lasse Hallström movie and walks like a Lasse Hallström movie, then… You know what you’re getting. Beautiful countryside locations, a pretty score, great actors (Redford and Morgan Freeman are terrific as two curmudgeons) and, ultimately, a weak script that has every chance to spice things up but refuses to do so.
