IT ISN’T LOVE THAT MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND.
New York City veteran robber/con artist Joe Moore (Gene Hackman) and his crew are hired to do one last hit, this time against an airplane that carries gold. It is kind of hard to separate this film from that same yearās The Score; theyāre equally good, but this one has the Mametspeak. The dialogue is fast and witty; no one talks like this in real life, but listening to it is fun. Hackman comes with a natural authority, but Rebecca Pidgeon and Danny DeVito are also good, delivering their lines with gusto. Itās all quite enjoyable, but surely David Mamet could have come up with something a bit more original?
