IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS.Ā
35-year-old Texas baseball coach Jimmy Morris (Dennis Quaid) promises his minor league team to attend a major league tryout; it turns out that he can throw a mean fastball, and new possibilities open up for him. Frank Capraās spirit is alive in John Lee Hancock, it would seem; this reality-based feel-good movie for the whole family, produced by Disney, offers a simple story with a little too much sugar and too few complications. But the filmmakers capture the rural environs in a nice way, and Quaid is excellent as the decent, all-American chemistry teacher who starts living his dream.Ā
