THE INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY OF GOLD MEDAL LEGEND, JESSE OWENS.
The story of Jesse Owens, the athlete who showed the Nazi organizers of the 1936 Olympics in Berlin that a black man could beat the āmaster raceā, is at its most compelling when showing the political struggle behind the scenes between the anti-Semitic dictatorship and an America that still treated its African-American citizens as second class. Owens himself falls a little in the shadow; Stephan James is unable to overcome that challenge. Still, Rachel Portmanās music score compensates and so does the sheer spectacle of the climactic competitions and intrigues in Berlin.
