DREAM IT ā€“ EARN IT ā€“ LIVE IT.

The teachers are new and so are the kids, but it’s the same New York High School for Performing Arts in this remake of the 1980 hit. We follow a group of students over four years as they enjoy success, suffer disappointments and get to understand who they really are. You’ve seen these clichĆ©d little stories and relationships on too many mediocre TV shows; it’s up to a few sitcom stars to rise above the material. The movie has a few engaging musical performances, but misses the chance to recreate the most elaborate scene from the original.

2009-U.S. 107 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Kevin Tancharoen. Cast: Kay Panabaker (Jenny Garrison), Naturi Naughton (Denise Dupree), Kherington Payne (Alice Ellerton), Megan Mullally, Bebe Neuwirth, Debbie Allen… Kelsey Grammer, Charles S. Dutton.

Trivia: Oddly enough, Debbie Allen does not play the same character as in the original movie and TV series. Alternative version runs 123 min.
