NEW YORK, BERLIN, TOKYO.
Do people and specific circumstances change when located elsewhere? Is there a force in that transition that could alter events? Thatās what some construction workers in Berlin are asking themselves, as three people in New York, Berlin and Tokyo are facing commitment demands from their unfaithful lover. Hereās the problem: I donāt think director Hal Hartley succeeds in making the three variations stand on their own. The basic story is not supposed to be important (it’s all about the details and atmosphere), but why should anyone see it three times then?Ā
